Chong Kin is the Managing Director of Drew’s corporate department. He heads the TMT, and co-heads both the Data Protection & Cybersecurity and Competition Law Practices.
Chong Kin played a key role in the liberalisation of Singapore’s telecommunications, media and postal industries. Since 1999, he routinely advises the sectoral regulators on liberalisation, market access, licensing, competition regulation, merger reviews and enforcement issues. He played a pioneering role in introducing competition laws to Singapore through drafting the sectoral competition frameworks that continue to govern the telecoms, media and postal sectors today. Chong Kin is also a pioneer in the practice of data protection, being relied upon by Singapore’s data protection commission to draft their implementation guidelines and assist in complex enforcement cases. Besides Singapore, Chong Kin also acts for various ASEAN regulators on matters related to his expertise.
Given Chong Kin’s broad, deep and overlapping experience in competition, data and regulatory work, he is truly unique in being able to advise on complex matters spanning across the entire spectrum of the digital economy.
